The Kabaddi team of Patna Pirates (PTP) is based in Patna, Bihar. They became the PKL champions continuously three times in 2016 (twice) & 2017 by defeating U Mumba, Jaipur Pink Panthers, and Gujarat Fortune Giants. They were the Pro Kabaddi Vijeta of seasons 3, 4 & 5. The team plays its home matches at Patliputra Sports Complex, Patna, Bihar, India.
The top six teams will qualify for the playoffs while the four teams at bottom of the qualified playoffs will face each other in the eliminator rounds. Afterward, the eliminator rounds winner will face the top two qualified teams of the playoffs in the semi-finals. Then the final will be played between the winners of the semi-finals to win the title of the Pro Kabaddi champions.
The modern layout of the Pro Kabaddi League consists of more than 130 plus matches with two eliminator rounds which are eliminator 1 and eliminator 2, two semi-finals, and the final. This league will be played in the format of the double robin-round where every team will play 22 matches in the league stages.
How Does the Pro Kabaddi Points Table Work?
The Pro Kabaddi points table works in the following way:
- Each team will be given 5 points for a victory.
- Each team will be given 3 points for a tie.
- If the margin of defeat is equal to or less than seven points, then 1 point will be given to the losing team.
- If the margin of defeat is more than seven points, then no points will be given to the losing team.

Patna Pirates was one of the six best teams that qualified in the playoffs of Seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8. They won the PKL championship continuously three times in seasons 3, 4, and 5 (2016 and 2017). Although there were in 1st position in the playoffs rounds of season 8, they weren’t successful to win the title of PKL Champions against Dabang Delhi.
