The Kabaddi team of Gujarat Giants (GJG), formerly known as Gujarat Fortune Giants (GFG) is based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It became a franchise of the Pro Kabaddi League in Season 5 (2017). They never won a single season but they were the runner-up in PKL seasons 5 and 6 played in 2017 and 2018 against Patna Pirates and Bengaluru Bulls. The team plays their home matches at the EKA Arena by TransStadia, Ahmedabad.
The best 6 teams in the first six positions will qualify for the knockouts while the four bottom teams in the qualified category will face each other in the eliminator rounds (1 and 2). After this, the eliminator’s winners will face the top two qualified teams of knockouts in the semi-finals. Then the final will be played to win the Pro Kabaddi championship.
The recent layout of the PKL consists of 137 matches with two eliminator rounds (eliminator 1 and eliminator 2), the semi-finals, and the final. This tournament will be played in the double-robin-round format where every team will play 22 matches in the stages of the league.
How Does the Pro Kabaddi Points Table Work?
The Pro Kabaddi points table works in the following way:
- 5 points will be granted for a win.
- 3 points will be granted for a tie.
- 1 point will be granted for a loss if the team loses with a score difference of seven or fewer points.
- Zero-point will be granted for a loss if the team loses with a score difference of more than seven points.
